Very small sleepy village perfect for a remote escape.
Very small sleepy village perfect for a remote escape. Unspoiled beach and nature with friendly inhabitants. A total escape. It is not a tourist spot but a quiet escape.
The remoteness means little amenities like restaurants and shops. Come prepared with some snacks and supplies. A large resort hotel and some smaller ones, along with homestay, but little else for the independent traveller

Great area - a little away from the hustle & bustle of other areas so it is quieter. The beach is beautiful, clean & quiet. Easy to get transport to other areas for more activity - close to backwater tours etc.
Only limitation is perhaps lack of eating out options within walking area, best to have hotel with restaurant otherwise will need to travel by tuk tuk or taxi.

The resort was a little too far away from the beach and the beach had no chairs, shade or umbrellas making it very difficult to stay very long. The surrounding area was not good to stroll around. The massage treatments are a 10 minute tuk tuk ride away and are quite expensive for India £34. We have been paying £15 previously.

I was at much trouble due to the stay at Mararikulam due to booking at Spot On Sb Cruise, Aleppey (There is no such property). So I was to search for another property with the help of some Good Local peoples and by their efforts, I got a place to sleep.

I like very much all areas of Mararikulam, I think it is cleaner than other places. The beach is amazing and magical, people are very kind. it is a paradise on earth, unfortunately, my resort needs some restoration, especially rooms, and the swimming pool. Nature is really enchanting
I was in Seclude Marari sand resort, potentially the best part of the beach but the resort needs some work. It is quite expensive for the services it offers

Every day was special, a smile from our lovely housekeeper, restaurant staff went out of their way to keep our tea cups filled with a huge smile. Second holiday at Marari and looking forward to the next one. Lovely big room, nothing a problem. Thanks Marari
This place was so peaceful, the staff were very helpful and welcoming. It was new years eve and we were even invited out for a drink with the owners and staff, it had a real family feeling to it. The room was super comfortable and the garden is very pretty, there are also cute cats and cows to make friends with. Marari Beach was a nice walking distance away and a beautiful beach with lots going on. Its a quiet but convenient base to explore the area from. We'd definitely recommend to friends and others alike.
The resort is very peaceful and quiet, perfect for a relaxing holiday. The beach is beautiful and clean. We found that most of the day we had it just to ourselves. The houses are nicely located among the trees and equipped with a hammock outside. It was great strolling around with the ponds and gardens to enjoy. The food was delicious and really good value. We also booked a massage which was very relaxing. The staff was very nice and friendly. Would definitely stay again.
This was one of the nicest homestays that I and my family have stayed at. Lovely hosts who are always ready to help out. Also, the food at the homestay is fantastic! We ate all meals there and everything was just great. The space is cosy, green and spotless. The beach is a short walk away and needless to say, that is amazing. For people who are not familiar with Kerala, it is a tropical state and therefore, will have mosquitoes. So please carry a repellent.
Very friendly and nice family, the host Leijo was always very helpful with anything we asked for.
Each morning our hostess served us a tasty, generous Kerala style breakfast, with fresh seasonal fruits, and the choice of tea and coffee. Bottled water was always available. She also offered a home cooked meal for dinner, which we especially enjoyed on the very first day.
Walking distance to the beach, which is beautiful and clean.
Well recommended.
We had a wonderful, relaxing stay at Xandari Pearl. The resort is a nature lovers paradise. The rooms are comfortable, spotless and really well designed. We were so well looked after by the kind, courteous staff. The food was really tasty and I especially enjoyed the buffet evenings. The complimentary afternoon tea/coffee and snacks were great. Sunsets on Marari Beach were unforgettable. The ayurveda massage was amazing. Would love to return.
The room and the bathroom were very nice, spick and span! Facilities were just as mentioned on booking site. Host family there is super gentle, friendly and helpful. They even helped us with carrying our luggage to the car and received our food delivery. The lady made a very tasty breakfast. This stay is really close to marari beach, we could walk down in just 3-5 min. All in all a very good experience. Thanks to the hosts.
Very close to the beach, quiet area and lots of green around. The host was very kind and offered some fresh papaya when I arrived, when I mentioned I had to do some video calls he arranged some delicious food would be available for after I finished (for a reasonable price). I would highly recommend this place for anyone looking for an affordable stay in a beautiful area and near the beach 🙂
The food was really good.
The behaviour of the staff was good.
The rooms were clean.
There was an outdoor seating space which was really good.
Even though the rooms are built in a heritage way, the bathroom is modern.
Chethy beach and marari beach are nearby. The former one is quiet and calm while the latter is crowded with nearby shops. This gives me a choice.
Overall I enjoyed the stay.
Beautiful boutique hotel in an old colonial mansion just 400m from the clean, quiet end of Marari beach. We loved lounging by the pool, cycling around the local village and canoing down to the beach for sunset. The food was amazing - we particularly enjoyed freshly made breakfast milkshakes and the Marari fish curry. Would highly recommend for a backwater / beach experience close to Kochi.
Beautiful setting amongst lush vegetation. Fantastic rooms and bungalows with a wooden construction and lovingly updated for tourism. Lovely place to relax and unwind. Quiet location, but either a 10-15minute walk to Chethy beach, which is huge and deserted or a 5 minute tuk-tuk ride to Marari beach where there are more snack shacks and facilities.
Best stay in marari beach, it takes hardly 5 minutes to walk to the beautiful quiet beach in marari. The building is wonderfully preserved, in it's colonial style. The beautiful courtyard garden and the birds are very charming. Wonderful stay. Would recommend!
The location is really amazing. It’s best for kids, who can play outside in the garden. While parents can also relax. There is no in house restaurant but they do serve breakfast. Stay was pleasant. 900 m meters to marari beach.
Rooms are super big. I unnecessarily booked one more room, may be the listing can be updated with more options to include more guest in a room. Lunch was amazing, typical Kerala style food. Property is very close to beach.
Location and facility were excellent.
Booked this hotel for my parents, and they really enjoyed their stay.
Staff was helpful and made sure their stay was comfortable.
Mary was the sweetest host, cooked excellent food, and the rooms were clean and in great order. Overall, great value for money. The beach is just a short walk away.
Place was really good, just walkable to the beach. Very calm and peaceful. Host Mr. Jeejo was very helpful and breakfast was really good. Really worth the money.
